[Lucia Gil] [20 March 2012] · Hi People! Enjoying the Sun on the 1st day of Spring? Hope so… = D! Dunno about you, but I always liked Geography! I bet you can see where this is heading to, right? Yes, the Philippines! LOL. No not yet planning my holidays but was talking to [Linda Manlises] about Calingag, the village where she was born and our projects are based at. And it was so engaging that I decided to share it with you… Calingag is too small to be on the map but for you to have an idea of how far our help reach has a look at the maps. Pinamalayan is the nearest town, situated about 25 mins drive. Bear in mind that a town in the Philippines is not the same as over here. So that distance also means that Calingag lacks a lot of infrastructures that we take for a grant in Europe. Hence the need to help. Any Spring cleaning planned? Remember these kids don’t have access to many of the items we provide: textbooks, stationery, educational games, books, clothes, shoes and even PCs if you have any old one laying around. If you live in the UK instead of going to your local charity, WHY not consider making a donation to SIKAT? YES, we are a REGISTERED charity in the UK and Wales ([http://sikat.org/]). Estava me a descrever a vila onde nasceu e aonde temos os projectos. Como nao sou nada curiosa comecei a procura da vila na internet e ca vão algumas fotos para saberem tanto como eu - LOL! Agora falando serio; com a chegada da Primavera (no calendario Ingles começa hoje) normalmente faz-se a chamada ‘limpeza de Primavera’. Ontem lembrei-me de que seria ideal para pedir doações. As crianças que ajudamos nao tem fácil acesso a livros e material escolar; jogos didácticos, livros ate mesmo vestuário e calcado entao se estiverem a pensar em desfazerem-se de algo pensem em nos. A SIKAT e uma organização seria; esta registada como um organização caridosa e tudo o que recolhemos chega as pessoas que ajudamos.
