Calingag Project challenge
Despite the great achievements that have been made since the school opened in 2005, it is still in need of improvement. However, as the founder of SIKAT, SIKAT - Giving Children Hope are very grateful and proud of what has been achieved by our grassroots charity with our limited resources and volunteers. Similarly, the head teacher, students and especially the parents are so grateful for all that they have received already. They are looking forward for the chances and challenging all the way despite the ups and down situation, they still can aim high. Our short-term goals for the moment are quite humble. They urgently need an assembly room and would like to put up an identifying sign with the name of their school on the gate. The original makeshift building, built in made 2005 had previously been used as an Assembly hall for many years but unfortunately it was totally ruined by Typhoon Nona in 2015. For this reason, if there are any meetings, for teachers, PTA, Village leaders or other School activity meetings, they have to use or share a classroom, which is inconvenient for everyone. For many years now, they have been conducting their assemblies and graduation day celebrations outside the school. Therefore, an Assembly Hall is desperately and urgently needed by the school, even a simple structure, which could keep everyone safe from the elements. The quotations they have been given for the Assembly Hall is around 500,000 pesos (£8,000). And for the sign that will proudly show the identity of the school at the gate, the quotation is 185,000 pesos (£3,000).
